Simulation of Rainfall-Runoff in the Diyala River Basin in Iraq using Hydrological Model by HMS with remote sensing, Geo-HMS and ArcGIS

Abstract In Iraq, the Diyala River (DR) occasionally experiences both droughts and floods. The DR is supplying amount of water to Tigris at south Baghdad. Estimation runoff from precipitation very important because its impact on decision-making in resources management. conceptual distributed hydrological model was adopted by HEC-HMS, Geo-HMS, GIS software, remote digital elevation models were processed. sensitivity, calibration, validation made through period 2017-2021. estimated CN values 60 100 with related ratios between 0.6% 52.8%. differences observed inlet discharge Hemrin Dam for (+0.1 -0.2) % some more peak point. using data NASA FAO, acceptable model. results an accuracy 95%, which indicated value R2 PBIAS indicators.
